Roof Refurbishment, Southend Hospital
Southend Hospital in Essex required some urgent refurbishment works to the standing seam metal clad roofs and associated metal box gutters, as they were leaking into the hospital theatre units below. Due to the nature of the building, a cold applied, low odour overlay system was required. Therefore, Proteus Waterproofing specified Proteus Pro-System® Plus, meeting the client’s requirements.
High Performance Waterproofing:
Due to the standing seam design of the metal roof, Proteus Pro-System® Plus was fully reinforced both to the sheets and through the gutters, to ensure all future movement from the metal panels were catered for. The high level of detail is easily overcome by using Proteus Pro-System® Plus, as this incorporates glass fibre matting. This breaks down into the Proteus Pro-System® Plus resin to mould to the most intricate details. Proteus Waterproofing worked closely with the Proteus Approved Contractor to ensure the project was completed to a high standard.
Health & Safety:
As the hospital building was constantly operating, the system needed to be installed with minimum noise and disruptions, ensuring the hospital could still operate and patients were not disturbed. As Proteus Pro-System® Plus is cold applied and low odour, it met the health and safety criteria required to work on this building and eliminated the risk of fire.
Long Term Performance:
Proteus Pro-System® Plus offers a low maintenance, durable waterproofing and protection solution for a range of new build and refurbishment applications. As it is cold applied, once cured, provides a completely seamless waterproof protection and has excellent UV stability, making it suitable to use in all climates. Proteus Pro-System® Plus forms a seamless, fully adhered membrane, made in the UK and is BBA Certified.
