Roof Refurbishment, Bedford Square, London
The existing finishes were removed back to the original concrete deck. Proteus Waterproofing installed Cold Melt®, a high performance seamless waterproofing system which is cold applied, greatly reducing the risk an open flame roof torch poses, meeting the client’s brief. Once installed, the stone paving finish was reinstated on a cement bed.
Key Requirements: High Performance Waterproofing
Cold Melt® was installed as it is a cold applied, odourless application which is ideal for enclosed areas. Cold Melt® DPM Primer was then applied with Pro-Aggregate EM to create a mechanical key for the new cement bed for the pavers. Decorative slabs were then applied. Proteus Waterproofing worked closely with the Proteus Approved Contractor to complete the project to a high standard.
Key Requirements: Health & Safety
When working on occupied buildings, particularly in busy city centres, safety is always of utmost importance. As Cold Melt® is a cold applied liquid system it met all health and safety criteria to work on this occupied building. With the terrace was in close proximity to neighbouring properties, the low odour application allowed the Proteus Approved Contractor to work safely and with minimal disruptions.
Key Requirements: Long Term Performance
Incorporating recycled rubber crumb and organically grown products, Cold Melt® creates an elastomeric, seamless, cold applied waterproofing membrane. Cold Melt® system can include inverted roof insulation and, with or without insulation, can be designed as a paved, ballasted, green or brown roof. The membrane does not become brittle with age, is BBA Certified to last the life of the structure and is made in the UK.
