Balcony refurbishment, Castlemaine House, London

In one of London’s pre-eminent squares, a Grade I listed flat at Castlemaine House in St James’s Square required a new waterproofing system for the first floor balcony. Faced with limited access and minimal disruption to residents, Proteus Waterproofing provided the optimum solution with a cold applied and low odour solution.

Product brief:

Applied by a Proteus Licenced Contractor, Cold Melt® seamless waterproofing was selected to extend the lifespan of the balcony prior to the application of a new marble tile finish which was bedded into mortar.

Key Requirement: Health and safety

Working on occupied buildings, particularly in cities, safety is always of utmost importance. Proteus liquid applied systems are cold installed and meet all health and safety criteria to work on this occupied flat and minimise risk of fire. With the balcony in close proximity to a neighbouring property, the low odour application allowed the Licenced Contractor to work safely and with minimal disruption to residents.

Key Requirement: Quality Control
Proteus Waterproofing worked in close partnership with the Licenced Contractor to successfully deliver the project to a very high standard.

Key Requirement: Excellent performance
Incorporating recycled rubber-crumb and other organically grown products, Cold Melt creates an elastomeric, seamless, cold applied membrane.
